Railways starts trial run of e-catering service


New Delhi, Sep 25 (IANS): Indian Railways Thursday started trials of its e-catering service in select trains through which passengers will be able to place meal orders through phone calls or messaging service.

According to the railways, the service has been started on trial basis in the Delhi- Amritsar section in six pairs of trains.

"During this Trial, passengers will be served food at the five nominated stations. The food will be served from the IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation) food plazas or catering units at the above stations," the railways said in a statement.
