Bantwal, Sep 27: Never before readers might have come across so many water tragedies in such a short period.  As reported by these columns, more than 10 persons have met watery grave in the undivided district of Dakshina Kannada in the last 10 days.  Along with this 2 engineering students who drowned at Om Beach at Gokarna and another young man who was washed away at Karwar, increase this number substantially.

Now there is one more similar incident which has been reported from the taluk.  A 13-year-old boy met watery grave near Shri Mahalingeshwara Temple here on Tuesday September 26.

Harshendra (13), son of Sanjeev Safalya of Kamaje in B Mooda village near here drowned in River Netravati on Tuesday.  He had gone to visit Shri Mahalingeshwara Temple along with his friends on Tuesday.  As they were walking on a rock by river bank, Harshendra slipped and fell deep into the water.  All efforts by his friends to rescue him, proved futile.

Harshendra was a class 7 student of Ajjibettu Primary School.  Town police have registered a case in this regard.
