Kundapur, Sep 27: A fisherman was drowned in the sea behind Hotel Sea Land at Maravante near here on Tuesday September 26.
The drowned fisherman has been identified as Rama Kharvi (47), a resident of Maravante. He had gone fishing on Jayaparameshwari fishing vessel along with four others. They were just a bit away from the shore when a mighty wave lashed against their boat.
As a result their boat capsized and all of them were washed away. However, except Rama Kharvi, the other fishermen managed to reach the shore. Though Rama was brought to the shore by others, he died on the way to the hospital.
Gangolli police have registered a case in this regard.
