Mangalore, Sep 27: The Bajpe airport on Tuesday received its first Jet Airways Boeing 737-800 aircraft from Mumbai at 2.15 pm. 

This is the largest aircraft to land on the runway tarmac as on date. Airport director Vasudeva said this proves that the runway was capable of handling heavier and larger aircraft. 

The length of the 737-800 is 39.5 meters and the wingspan is 34.3 mts. Earlier the 737-400 with length of 36.5 mts have landed at the airport.
