Mangalore, Sep 26: "Yaad" Konkani antakshari presented by "Konknni Sangeet Mogi" will ever be remembered for innovation and setting new trend in Konkani.  There was a complaint that none of the local T V Channels had ever aired any Konkani programme which could compete with programme of other languages in quality.  But 'Yaad' has proved it wrong.

Yaad is now all set be aired on "Namma TV" from Saturday September 30.  The programme will be at 9 pm on every Saturday.  The same will be repeated on every Monday at 3 pm.

A total of 52 teams, that is, over 100 participants from Puttur, Karkala, Shankarapura, Bantwal, Moodbidri, Brahmavar and other places competed in the preliminary rounds.  As reported earlier, preliminary rounds were held on Sunday August 27 and Friday September 1 at Sandesha, Bajjodi.   Only 23 teams were selected for the finals.

The first phase of the finals was held on Sunday September 3 and 16 teams were selected for the next round.  Noted Konkani composers and musicians Wilfy Rebimbus, Eric Ozario and Melwyn Peris were the honorary judges for the round.

The second and the final round was held at Kalaangann on Sunday September 10.  Out of the 16 teams, only 4 teams were selected for the last round.    The last round proved to be the toughest of all rounds with quality singing.

Well-known musician Joel Pereira scored the background music for the entire event while "Miss Daijiworld" Melita Pinto assisted in compering.  Arun Dante Pernal, Arul D'Souza Shirva, Pramod Udupi and Vishranth D'Souza, Mangalore were over-all in-charge of the programme.

"Yaad" is the brainchild of Roshan D'Souza Belman of "Naxibantlea Chedva" music album fame.  This young man from Belman is surely dreaming big.  His maiden Konkani album had paved way for innovation in Konkani music.  Now he has come up with another achievement.  If Konkani buffs support and encourage him, he would surely take Konkani to newer horizons.

Maurice D'Sa Shantipura is the convener of the entire programme while Roshan Martis, Borimar of Nityadhar Real Estate is the prime sponsor of the event.

"Yaad" has already become a memorable event.  However, to see the entire programme, to know the winners, to see the participants, people have to just watch Namma TV on every Saturday night at 9 pm and on every Monday at 3 pm.

As announced earlier the prizes for the winners are as follows:

First prize: Rs 5,555 + Gold coin and other items
Second prize: Rs 2,222 + Gold coin and other items

Moreover, all the participants too have been presented with a valuable gift.
