Mangalore, Sep 25: Superintendent of Police B Dayananda stressed on the need to spread awareness on 'koraga' and 'bhoota' veshas among the members of the SC/ST communities.

He was addressing the monthly meeting of SC/ST communities held here on Sunday September 24. He expressed concern over the veshas being misused but said that the police could not officially take action in this regard.

He further stated that the department, in order to curb the donning of veshas for non-religious purposes, had banned the practice of the same during cultural festivals like 'Karavali Utsava.'

Among those present were deputy commissioner M Maheshwara Rao and additional superintendent of police B S Lokesh Kumar.
