Udupi, Sep 22: Kannada telemovie "Akku" has bagged the prestigious 'Prasar Bharathi 'UNICEF' Award-2006.  The award will be presented at a gala function to be held at Hyderabad on Saturday September 23 evening at 6.

The film produced by Francis D'Sa of Disha Communication, is directed by Prakash Suvarna Katapadi.  Screenplay, story and dialogues are by Prakash Suvarna.

The film dwells largely on social evils such as child labour, child marriage and atrocities inflicted on women.  Jayalakshmi Atrady, a school girl has played the lead role of 'Akku' while some known stage artistes from the region too are in the cast.
