Mangalore, Sep 22: In a short span of seven months, the District Lady Goschen Hospital has registered total of 152 deaths of infants during delivery!

Although this number is an alarming sign, the death of a mother and child in the hospital on Sep 21 has brought out several issues haunting good medical treatment at the hospital.

The Thursday’s incident brought several concerned to probe into the happenings in the hospital.

The hospital which performed a total of 2,707 normal deliveries and 953 caesarian section births between Jan 06 and Aug 06 has on record the death of 4 mothers.

Nagaraj Shetty, minister in-charge for the district, J Krishna Palemar and N Yogish Bhat MLA’s who discussed the mismanagement of the district hospital held a meeting in the Circuit house on Thursday with the DC and the SP.

The Thursday’s episode and the number of deaths during child birth stands contrary to the publicized fact that DK district government hospitals offer superior maternal and pediatric care.
