Food packets sent to Kashmir


New Delhi, Sep 11 (IANS): The women and child development ministry, in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh state government, Thursday mobilised nutritious ready-to-eat food material for the flood affected people of Jammu and Kashmir, an official statement said.

The statement said women development and child welfare department of Andhra Pradesh has already supplied 130 tonnes of ready-to-eat food over the last two days for those affected by floods while another consignment of 87 tonnes was being dispatched Thursday with the help of Indian Air Force.

"Another 100 tonnes will be supplied per day over the next five days," the statement said.

The food packets, produced by government owned A. P. Foods comprise of roasted wheat, roasted Bengal gram, milk powder, sugar and oil.

"It is hygienic food fortified with vitamins and minerals," the statement said.
