Ahmedabad, Sep 21: A major fire broke out in the Gandhinagar residence of former Gujarat chief minister Keshubhai Patel on Thursday morning. Patel's wife Leelaben Patel (76) died in the mishap.
According to fire brigade sources, the fire started in a small room where Leelaben was sitting and she could not rush out since she was ill.
A short circuit could be the probable reason for the blaze, they added.
Fire officer Mahesh Mod said they got a call at 0708 hrs and a team was rushed to the spot.
