New Delhi, Sep 11 (IANS): Parts of the national capital and its adjoining areas in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh received rain all throughout Thursday. More rain is likely Friday, the Met office has said.

The capital received 15.2 mm of rain from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., which cooled the city.

The maximum temperature was recorded five notches below the season's average at 29.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was recorded at 25 degrees Celsius, average for this time of the season.

The rain, however, led to water-logging and traffic snarls in some parts of the city.

According to Delhi Police, traffic jams were reported around ITO and Connaught Place in central Delhi, Kashmere Gate in the north and Dhaula Kuan, Adchini and South Extension in south Delhi.

Delhiites made the most of the pleasant weather and came out of their homes to shop and eat with families and friends.

Many people thronged popular spots like the Children's Park near India Gate, Connaught Place and the various Dilli Haats.

Rain also hit Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Gurgaon in Haryana. Both places are adjacent to the national capital.

Thursday's maximum humidity was 92 percent while the minimum was 83 percent.

According to the Met Office, more rain is expected Friday.

"The sky will remain cloudy and parts of the city will experience a thunderstorm," said a Met official.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 31 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Wednesday's minimum temperature was recorded at 26.6 degrees Celsius, a degree above the season's average, while the maximum temperature settled at 36 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average.
