Mangalore, Sep 21: The Bajpe (Mangalore) airport handled an Airbus 320 with passengers on board for the first time in 51 years, on Wednesday.

The Airbus 320 of Kingfisher Airlines from Mumbai arrived at 2.25 p.m. and departed for Mumbai at 3 p.m. The 134-seater aircraft is very spacious and has facilities such as music and television. While the economy class was full, a few business class seats were vacant, sources said.

The aircraft landed on the new runway that was the first complete concrete runway of an airport in the State. This runway was opened for aircraft operations recently.
