Mangalore, Sep 20: The work on flyovers in the city has finally begun, with construction getting under way at Kottara Chowki here on Monday September 18 evening.

The flyovers will be built in phases, with the first phase consisting of three flyovers being built simultaneously. The other flyover will be at Suratkal, but the location of the third has not been finalised yet. Altogether, the city will get 7 flyovers by next monsoons.

Each flyover will take around 4-6 months for completion, but since they are being built simultaneously, the work is expected to be finished sooner.

National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), along with the flyovers, also began repair work of the highways.
