Mangalore, Sep 20: The long awaited step to constitute a welfare board for construction workers will be fulfilled in a month, said minister for labour and minority welfare Iqbal Ansari, while addressing a press conference during his visit here on Tuesday September 19.

Ansari said the board, which will be constituted through a notification process, has already been let open to public hearing for two months. The board will be soon constructed after this hearing ends on October 19. The board will have full autonomy with the power to modify or bring in new steps for the welfare of workers.

The money collected as cess of 1 per cent on constructions costing more than 10 lac will be passed on to the board. The collected amount will be used for the betterment of construction workers, he said.
