Modi's silence on divisive campaigns cause of concern: Muslim body

New Delhi, Sep 7 (IANS) : Muslim organisation Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Saturday said while Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks of development, his silence on the divisive campaign and hate campaigns of party leaders and affiliated outfits is a great cause of concern.

Addressing a press conference here, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind secretary general Nusrat Ali also said that the government has made a few good announcements and austerity moves since it assumed office but still there was concern.

"A period of 100 days is very short to judge a government elected by people for five years. However, the initial trends are not good. It seems the government is working on two fronts - while PM Modi is talking about development, some leaders of his party and Sangh Parivar have opened aggressive hate campaign against Muslims and Modi is silent. It seems there is a silent understanding among them," he said.

"Jamaat is seriously concerned at the rise in hate campaign against minorities, particularly Muslims, since BJP came to power at the centre. There has since been a spate of communal incidents also (Saharanpur, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Kanpur etc.).

"At regular interval, leaders of BJP and Sangh Parivar have raked up contentious issues like Article 370 and Uniform Civil Code. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, in violation of the ethos of the Constitution, said that India is a Hindu Rashtra and all citizens of this country are Hindus," he said.

Another member Mohammad Salim Engineer claimed that by not mentioning the words like "Muslim" or "minorities" in his speeches, Modi wants to indicate as if minorities do not exist at all in the country.

"In the garb of slogans like 'Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas', the PM wants to ignore the existence of the minority communities," he said.

Responding to questions, Jamaat leaders also said groups like Al Qaeda are doing disservice to Islam and Muslims.

Most of their messages and acts do not match with Islam, they said adding that there is strong apprehension that such groups are being used by anti-Islam forces.

However, on the announcement of the banned terror group to open its branch in India, Jamaat leaders expressed apprehensions that this may be used by country's intelligence agencies to target minority youths as has been the trend for past 10 years.

WHERE THERE IS SINGLE GOAL OF DEVELOPMENT THERE WILL NOT ARISE QUESTION OF MINORITES AND IF SUCH DIFEERENTIATION EXISTS THERE CANNOT BE DEVELOPMENT. ALL ARE EQUAL.
INDIA IS UNITED AND NOT DEVIDED.
IT IS CONGRESS CREATION WITH THE INTENTION OF VOTE BANK POLITICS.

bjp came to power by playing clear Hindu Communal Card. Now they have found that this is the easiest way of winning election. They have been blaming Congress of playing vote bank politics . Which is bigger vote bank ? Hindus or Muslims ? If anybody plays Muslim vote back they are bound to fail. But if someone says to give the rights of minorities which is guaranteed by constitution they become communal for communal minded bjp . Modi will continue to play Hindu Card to keep his vote bank intact. That is expected.

First of all modi is sincere sanghparivar worker and we cant expect more than his silence even as prime minister. The word development nothing but small quoting to hide the real divisive politics. Most of the chaddi leaders are suffering from inferiority complex about their ideology and thats why they target other communities.

    1. "Sab" means all. So Modi is referring to 100% of Indians. What is wrong with it?
    2. Silence on targetted attack on a particular community - Why there is a foregone conclusion? Can't we assume that criminals and minute percentage of ultra fanatics on both sides are responsible for majority of clashes?
    3. Who is playing communal politics? Throughout the election, Modi was targetted as a demon, all the while he was harping on development. He did not utter a communal word then, he is not doing the same now!
Yes - Modi has a past. Hate him for that. But be objective in your analysis.

If modi is silent we cant blame modi...offcourse he has huge task of taking nation together...worrying thing arise from his own partymen like yogi adityanath...or appointment of riot accused sanjiv baaliyan as cabinet minister....Or drama by P.M's mentor organisation....Ofcourse we cant blame modi but people surrounding him are good at communal politics...Even amit shah has said recently riots help them to get into power....We dont have problem with jaiteley or sushma or rajnath they doesnt speak in that tone...But persons like kalraj mishra, yogi adityanath or sanjeev baliyan are not any intellectual persons like above they are still in stone age mentality speaking of revenge riots and bloodshed hope our P.M sidelines these people or else it gonna embaress his own party....

doodh ka jala, chaanch bhoo phook phhok ke peeta hai!! I feel its natural.. however, I think, rather than creating doubts and Khauff in the minds of their followers, these bodies should create conducive enevironment to get best out of the current govt for muslim welfare!! bring a national muslim leader who will work with Modi and bring the ridcals changes the community deserves!! make them join mainstream , rather than alienating them! ... Its MODI SARKAAR people voted for, and not those leaders who speak rubbish! if Modi talks like that and deviates from sabka saat, sabka vikaas, agenda even Hindu's will press panic button!! not all Hindus, endorse, VHP, singhal, Togadia, ramsena, Bajrang dal etc!! I want muslims to understand that, not all ulemas, deobandi, barelvi, Azam Khans, Owaisi's care for them..instead, want to force their voice on common muslims, who are struggling to make their ends meet, cos their very existence is threatened otherwise!!

Nothing wrong, In this play of action / reaction.... 700/800 hindu brothers/ sisters were killed and hundreds of hindu sisters were publicly gang raped. This is what you wanted being a human being. What is your moral support / contribution to get justice to the families of those killed and raped. This may be your personal ideology but not of Hinduism. I have put the same question to RSRB, but he is yet to reply. Some commentators like you, jeevan are writing that rapists should be hanged. Tell me how many rapists are hanged in India / Gujrat. Nothing but bow.bow....

Divisive Politics existed since 1947 by your congress. All intelligent muslims understood this lately.

In UP congress is instigating the other religious people to attack muslim youths, to show public that BJP is doing this. If congress is really concerned about Muslims and "HUMANITY" in particular, they should stop doing such heinous crime.

Dear Sandesh shetty, I am not questioning SC.....in the riots do you know how many hindu brothers / sisters were killed and how many hindu sisters were publicly gang raped. Did they / their families got justice ????? Why no t?????what was their fault ???? the question is why the state govt was so weak / impotent against the rioters ???? why the govt gave a free hand to the rioters....These are my basic questions.. What is wrong in recollecting the history ??? Truth is always bitter

Mate...I am not a BJP or Modi fan. The birth of Gujarat riots was due to the fact that the train bogeys carrying some Karsevaks were burnt. So such acts definitely ignite a retaliation and it went from bad to worse. Perhaps if the bogeys were not burnt there would not have been any riots. As simple as that. Modi did not step on the roads with an AK56 shooting people. The supreme court has given him a clean chit. Its just the minority appeasement propaganda by the Khangress blaming the CM to garner votes. Its evident that they have failed miserably. In an interview it was clear that the educated minorities too have voted for this Govt. Its just a small faction with the slave mentality who still claim Antanio Maino Khan as God.

Modi's silence on divisive campaigns is not a new news.
The reason for concern now is - 90 percent of MPs with him are having criminal background, out of which 17 ministers are also included. One minister himself is having rape charges on him. FM is calling Rape is a small issue, HRD minister calling her 7 day course certificate a Degree & Railway minister's son is running away from Police. Also Pakis are poking from other side (keep on attacking from cross the border).

Divisive politics has been existing in Pre and post independence and utterance of hate speeches by handful leaders of right wing outfits is not going to be cared by majority of the citizens of this country.

It is not a banana republic to differentiate people and rule the country on the basis of religion.

Our Muslim leaders should downplay on the versions given by some hate mongers.

Don't expect even in the dream that Modi will see minorities in equal terms with others. If so what is the difference between LKA/UMA/SINGHAL/MMJ.BJP president has lot of criminal cases related to minority affairs and even went on telling if HINDU-MUSLIM clash continues in UP,certainly UP would be ruled by BJP in next election. If his friend says like that, certainly,Modi will toe AMITH SHA'S LINE.
