Margao, Sep 16:
From  September 23, shop keepers, hawkers and vendors will be not allowed to display or expose their article for sale on the footpaths, passages of building and market as well as along the side of the roads in the municipal area here. Margao Municipal Council has issued this order to keep the city in proper and a presentable manner.

According to MMC chief officer Y P Tavde, these vendors, hawkers and shopkeepers, by displaying their articles on the footpaths, cause obstruction to free movement of pedestrians and vehicles. it is for this reason that the MMC decided to implement the stern rule.
 
If they arel found selling vegetables and fruits on the footpaths and along the side of roads, their wares will be seized by the MMC.
 
MMC has given seven days' time to clean up the encroachment to shop keepers.
