Mangalore, Sep 12:  A talk on the role of fingerprints in crime detection management was organized by the Mangalore Management Association (MMA), in association with SDM College of Business Management, at SDM College on Monday September 11.

Speaking on the occasion police inspector Harishchandra Hejmady,  CID fingerprint unit, said that the country’s finger print standard is on the same level with that of American and European standard. In 2002, the Karnataka police had been given software worth Rs 2 crore. The present day’s automatic fingerprint investigation system is more precise than compared to that of manual screening done earlier.  The government will soon be having the data base of all the fingerprints of all the people in the country, he added. 

Dr Devraj K, president, MMA, added that many industries are already practicing using fingerprints as attendance marks.

Shekhar Poojary, vice – president, MMA, T G Shenoy, secretary and Sunith Karkada, president, SDM-CBM students’ council, were also present at the meet.
