Udupi, Sep 12: Twentyeight couples shed their shy nature and inhibitions and came out of their shell to take part in a fun-filled 'Adarsha Dampatigalu'  (Ideal Couples) competition held on Sunday by the Kaup Jaycees as part of the Jaycee Week. Over a thousand in the audience too enjoyed and shared the fun as the participants were subjected to tricky questions and were asked to do funny acts.


The competition was inaugurated by former Udupi MP Vinayakumar Sorake. Zilla panchayat chairman Y Sukumar was the chief guest.

Jagadish and Surekha Acharya were felicitated for being the seniormost members of the local chapter of the organization. Kaup Jaycees president Deepak Kumar Yermal, immediate past president G Udupi, Jaycee Week director Sandeep Shetty and secretary Rakesh Kotian were present on the occasion.

Film stars Surya, Sarita Jain, Mithun Prasad and Prakash, and director of Tulu movie 'Kadala Mage' Praveen Suratkal were also felicitated on the occasion.

Rajendra Bhat K and Malini Satish Kundapur anchored the competition.

Winners:

First: Rajesh and Sriparna of Katapady-Mattu

Second: R Prasad and Surekha

Third: Shekhar and Jayalakshmi Acharya

Prizes totalling over Rs 100,000 were given away to the winners.

The Kaup Jaycees have in the process of completing a humanitarian project of providing a house to Radhu Naik of Kalattur-Payyar, a widow without children, at the cost of about Rs 60,000. The house is getting ready and will be handed over to her possession soon.
