Karmabhoomi Express passengers robbed in UP

Lucknow, Aug 30 (IANS): Passengers on board Karmabhoomi Express were robbed in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday between Rampur and Bareilly railway stations, police said Saturday.

The incident happened when over a dozen robbers entered the train coaches and began beating up the passengers. The train had left Moradabad and was headed to Lucknow when the robbery took place.

Over 250 passengers going from Amritsar to New Jalpaigudi were robbed. When the train reached Saharanpur railway station Saturday morning, the passengers created a ruckus and asked the Government Railway Police (GRP) officials to nab the robbers. They also protested at Sitapur railway station.

The passengers said the robbers were armed and beat up the passengers before decamping with cash and valuables at Bilpur railway station. They alleged that the robbers also molested women passengers.
