Karkala, Sep 11: A middle-aged person from Kallotte near here died of lightning strike on Sunday September 10 evening.  However, his brother who was with him has miraculously escaped from the tragedy without any injuries.

Gopal Acharya (45) was conducting the rites of obsequies of his family members when lightning struck him down.  His brother Sadashiva Acharya who was with him, however, had a miraculous escape. 

Gopal Acharya was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.  But it was of no use, as he died in the hospital later. 

He is survived with wife who is on her family way and 3-year-old daughter.
