Udupi, Sep 11: The famous 'Crocodile Hunter' Steve Irwin who passed away recently in a tragic underwater accident, has fans across the world, including in this coastal district.

On Sunday September 10, artists Srinath, Venkataramana Kamath, Ravi Hirabettu,  Lokesh, Purandara and Manjunath Nayak sculpted a sand crocodile at Malpe beach here to pay tribute to Irwin.

The crocodile, measuring 25 feet in length and 2.5 feet from the ground, was accompanied by digital photographs of Irvin beside it. Colour spray was used on the sculpture to make it look attractive.

A big crowd of people gathered from around the city to have a look at this innovative tribute.
