Bengal to send officers to Singapore for training


Kolkata, Aug 29 (IANS): The West Bengal government will send to Singapore officers who come up with good performances for further training, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced here Friday.

Banerjee visited Singapore recently and was impressed with the facilities available there.

Addressing the annual conference of West Bengal Civil Service Officers, Banerjee said the training will benefit the officers in further improving their performance graph.

Till now, only IAS officers were sent for training abroad. The Banerjee government's decision is aimed at removing a long-standing grievance of the West Bengal Civil Service officers, who form the backbone of the administration.

Banerjee said a housing project for government officials will come up at Rajarhat on the city's northeast fringes.

Announcing sops, she said WBCS officers will get special increments in salary after they complete eight and 16 years of service.

The chief minister also promised that the number of posts of joint secretaries for WBCS officers the will be increased.
