Mangalore, Sep 9: Security has been beefed up in the district following blasts at Malegaon in Maharashtra that killed more 37 and injured several others on Friday September 8.

Security has also been tightened along the coastal areas.  Dakshina Kannada SP B Dayananda said that police are alerted and special arrangements have been made in tightening the security.  Inter-state buses, trains are under scanner and checked.  Sniffer dogs and bomb detection squads are pressed into action.  Passengers' luggage too is checked as part of intensified security measures.

Extra police force has been deployed in sensitive areas to meet any unwanted situation.
