Jammu, Aug 27 (IANS): Three policemen, including a station house officer (SHO), were suspended Wednesday after a man died in police custody here, police said.
Harbans Lal of Kalari village in Jammu district, arrested in connection with a murder, was found dead in Khour police station in the morning.
The SHO of the station and two other policemen had been suspended, a senior Jammu and Kashmir Police officer told IANS. "We have ordered an enquiry to ascertain the exact cause of death."
All three suspended policemen have been attached to the district police lines in Jammu so that they don't influence or interfere with the enquiry.
