252 arrested during Notting Hill Carnival in London


London, Aug 27 (IANS): A total of 252 people have been arrested due to a variety of offences during the two-day Notting Hill Carnival in western London, police said Tuesday.

They were booked on charges of possessing drugs, violating public order, possessing weapons and assaulting police, Xinhua reported.

Last year 301 people were detained during the festival.

Notting Hill Carnival is one of the largest street festival in Europe. It was originated in early 1960s.
