Mangalore, Sep 2: "It is the responsibility of the head teachers of the school to see that the bicycles provided by the state government to the poor high school girls are used properly and judiciously.  In other words, they will be responsible for any misuse," said Shankarappa, deputy director of the department of public instructions.

He was speaking at a press conference held at Bikarnakatta higher primary school here on Friday September 1.  He briefed the media about the distribution of bicycles, teachers' day celebration etc at the press conference.

Bicycles will be distributed from Wednesday September 6.  A formal function in this regard will be held at Town Hall wherein, district in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty will distribute bicycles.  In the first phase a total of 1,842 will be distributed will be distributed to students from the taluk.  Cycle to students from other taluks will be distributed in the next phase, he said.

SSA officials Jayashekhar Moses, Geeta, Sridhar Brommori, Subrahmanya Sharma, Ramachandra Gowda and others were also present at the press conference.
