Assam braves boycott call on I-Day


Guwahati, Aug 15 (IANS): Braving incessant rains and a boycott call by militants, tens of thousands celebrated Independence Day here and in other parts of Assam Friday.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi unfurled the national tricolour at the Veterinary Field Ground here.

His cabinet colleagues took part in Independence Day functions in various parts of the state.
