Proposal for heliport hub in Gurgaon

Gurgaon, Aug 11 (IANS): A heliport hub has been proposed in this leading financial and industrial city situated near the national capital Delhi, its promoter said Monday.

Sanjay Singh, chief operating officer of K.P. Aviation Pvt Ltd, said the heliport hub has been proposed along the NH-8 or the KMP Expressway.

A helicopter will remain stationed at the heliport hub and can be used for evacuating victims of tragedies or for sending relief material.

It can also be used as an air ambulance for providing first aid to the victims and transporting them to the nearest hospitals.

Third, it can be used for police patrolling when it is not possible to reach a spot by road.

Fourth, the media can also use the chopper for getting first-hand information about an incident, which will help them in reporting.

Sanjay Singh said that only a 30x30 metre space for helipad and two rooms of 20x20 sq feet for the operation control room are required, which the district administration would have to provide.

Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi said: "Proposal can be implemented keeping in view the geographical location of Gurgaon and the number of high-rise buildings."

He directed the officers concerned to identify a suitable place for setting up the hub.

Sanjay Singh said the hub will be developed as a model so that other states can also take up the project.

He added: "The helicopter services will be provided free of cost for disaster management, air ambulance, police patrolling and media coverage of accidents."
