Four militants killed Yemen air strikes

Sana'a, Aug 11 (IANS): At least four suspected Al Qaeda militants have been killed Sunday in Yemeni air strikes, a military official said.

Fighter jets of the Yemeni air force carried out a series of raids on hideouts of terrorists in Hadramout province, the official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

A cache of arms and ammunition were also destroyed in the offensive.

The military official said the air strikes were conducted after intelligence agencies reported that Al Qaeda militants were hiding in the Hadramout valley. Four gunmen were killed and some others injured in the air bombing.

An intelligence officer said that "scores of the Al Qaeda militants from other regions have moved to the valleys of Hadramout where they were attempting to take control of some areas and make plans for terrorist attacks in the country".
