Woman injured in acid attack in Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 8 (IANS): A woman received minor burn injuries on her hands when two brothers threw acid on her following a fight over an issue, police said Friday.

The woman, 25, received nine percent burn injuries on her hands. Police said accused Golu was arrested while his brother, said to be a juvenile, is absconding.

"The attack took place at Nand Nagari area of east Delhi late Thursday after an argument between the woman and the brothers who are her neighbours over an issue, yet to be ascertained," said a police officer.

The victim's family, however, alleged the two brothers often harassed her and passed lewd comments.

Police said the woman survived the attack because she snatched the acid bottle from them. In the process, a few drops of acid fell on her hands.

The woman is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
