Prohibitory order violation: Kejriwal, others get bail


New Delhi, Aug 8 (IANS): A court here Friday granted bail to former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and four others for violating prohibitory orders during an AAP protest in January.

Metropolitan Magistrate Akash Jain granted bail to Kejriwal, former state ministers Manish Sisodia, Rakhi Birla and Somnath Bharti and party leader Ashutosh, who appeared before him in pursuance to the summons issued against them.

The court asked them to furnish personal bonds of Rs.5,000 each and listed the matter for further hearing Oct 28.

Delhi Police booked them for allegedly violating prohibitory orders while demonstrating outside Rail Bhavan here and demanding action against policemen who refused to raid an alleged drug and prostitution racket in south Delhi in January 2014.

The police chargesheeted them for joining and continuing in an unlawful assembly, rioting, obstructing public servant in discharge of his public function and assault or use of criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty.
