Kashmir engineer resigns alleging misbehaviour by minister


Srinagar, Aug 7 (IANS): A top engineer in Jammu and Kashmir Thursday resigned from his job alleging misbehaviour by a senior minister here.

Muzaffar Ahmad Lankar, chief engineer, public health engineering (PHE), as per sources close to him, submitted his resignation to the government after senior regional National Conference (NC)leader and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution minister Chowdhary Muhammad Ramzan lost his temper during a meeting and hurled abuses at him.

The same sources said the chief engineer left the meeting and put in his papers in protest.

They said the incident happened in the presence of state PHE minister Sham Lal Sharma and commissioner/ secretary, PHE. 

The chief engineer did not respond to repeated calls from IANS but an assistant who picked up his mobile phone confirmed the incident and the engineer's resignation.
