Forests, water bodies have declined in NCR: Naidu


New Delhi, Aug 6 (IANS): Natural conservation zones like forests, water bodies and wastelands have declined in the National Capital Region (NCR) over the years, union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu informed the Lok Sabha Wednesday.

Citing 2012 analysis by the National Capital Region Planning Board and the National Remote Sensing Centre using satellite imageries, the minister for urban development said in a written reply: "The decline in Delhi has been 15.43 percent, in Uttar Pradesh it has been 43.88 percent, 25.97 percent in Haryana and 11.18 percent in Rajasthan."

"The four states in the NCR and adjacent areas have been sent notice under section 29(2) of the NCRPB Act, 1985," he said.
