Man held for Rs.1 crore extortion bid


Gurgaon, Aug 6 (IANS): A 28-year-old man was arrested here for trying to extort Rs.one crore from a woman over phone, police said Wednesday.

Amit Kumar, a resident of Badshahpur here was arrested for demanding Rs.one crore from a woman living in upscale Rail Vihar in Sector 56.

Accused Kumar followed the woman for a few days and finally managed to get her mobile phone number from a pizza outlet in Sector 56.

"The accused posed as a gangster from Uttar Pradesh and demanded Rs.one crore from the woman," police officer Jagdish Prasad told IANS.

He was presented Wednesday in court which sent him to two-day police remand.
