Nigerian nurse treating Ebola patient dies

Abuja, Aug 6 (IANS): A nurse who treated an Ebola patient in Nigeria's Lagos state has been confirmed dead after contacting the virus, Xinhua quoted Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu as saying Wednesday.

In Liberia, another country in West Africa bordered by Sierra Leone to its west, Guinea to its north and Ivory Coast to its east, the Ebola virus has killed 268 people including 37 healthcare workers.

On Monday, the World Bank said it will provide $200 million in emergency funding to help the three west African countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone to contain the worsening Ebola outbreak in the region.

Ebola symptoms typically start showing two to three days after contracting the virus, with a fever, sore throat, muscle pains, and headaches.
