Margao, Aug 14: Rajya Sabha member Shantaram Naik said that the Information Technology Policy would have no meaning unless the policy is backed by the government support by way of legislation and infrastructure.

"Most of the government websites are not updated every day, though we have an IT Policy," he said here on Sunday evening on the occasion of ‘Jetking’ Diamond Jubilee celebration.

Speaking as a guest of honour, he said "Though we have the IT Policy , it seems that it just remains in the government books" and he suggested that government websites should be updated daily to give various information to the people.

"When I was in Delhi, I wanted news of Mhadai River for which I logged on to the concerned government website, but I could not get the information on that. When I logged on to other national websites I found the required information there," Naik further said.
 
He also suggested that the government make available all the information of schemes on the website, with the prescribed application and also information related to farmers should be included.
 
President of Goa chamber and commerce industry Nitin Kuncolikar, chairman and managing director of Jetking information Ltd.Suresh Bhawani and others were present on the occasion.
