MUMBAI, Aug 9: A sessions court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to Bollywood director Rajkumar Santoshi in connection with a criminal complaint filed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
A criminal complaint has been filed against Santoshi by the BMC for allegedly using his bungalow in Versova as a commercial office despite it being meant only for residential purposes.
Earlier, the BMC had given clean chit to Santoshi in this case, but when residents of a building next to his bungalow moved the Bombay High court with regard to the alleged illegal construction carried out by him, the high court told the BMC to reexamine the issue.
The BMC then registered a case under the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act against him for allegedly changing the use of his bungalow from residential to commercial in July.
