New smartphone app for ordering medicines

Kolkata, May 22 (IANS): From music to food to books, revolutionary smartphone applications have caught the world by storm. Now, thanks to a new app, residents of this eastern metropolis can also order medicines at the touch of a button.

Christened 'The Frank Ross Smartphone Application', the innovative service happens to be a first such app introduced by a pharmacy chain in India.

"This smartphone application will make ordering of medicines very easy. Now people can call for medicines from the comfort of their homes 24x7.

"The mobile application will act as a friend and help senior citizens and all those who find it difficult to visit a pharmacy," said Gautam Jatia, CEO, Frank Ross Pharmacy, a division of Emami Frank Ross Limited.

The pharmacy chain's centralised home delivery centre can be called between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. throughout the week.

"Home delivery will be done within four hours during business hours throughout Kolkata. We shall gradually introduce facilities such as prescription reminders and medical help-line to aid patients," said Jatia.
