Former Air India chief Russi Mody dies


Mumbai, May 17 (IANS): Russi Mody, former joint chairman of Air India and the erstwhile Indian Airlines and CMD of Tata Steel, died in Kolkata at the age of 95, an official said here Saturday.

Mody breathed his last at his Kolkata residence Friday.

Born in Mumbai Jan 17, 1918, Mody was a leading member of the Tata Group and served it in various capacities, later earning the sobriquet of India's "Steel Man".

He was appointed to head the airlines in 1993.
