75 percent vote in Bengal repoll


Kolkata, May 15 (IANS): Seventy five percent of the voters Thursday exercised their democratic right during repolling at five polling stations in three Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal, an Election Commission official said.

"Till 6 p.m., 75 percent of the electorate voted. The figure may go up, as more people are in the queue," Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Amitjyoti Bhattacharya told reporters.

Repolling was conducted in one booth each under Haroa and Basirhat South assembly segments of Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency and two polling stations under Canning East assembly segment of Joynagar Lok Sabha seat.

The other booth which saw re-election was under Ashoknagar assembly segment of Barasat Lok Sabha constituency.

Polling in all these booths was held May 12 in the final phase of the election.
