Congress debating idea of 'enlarged' UPA-III to stop Modi

New Delhi, May 15 (PTI): Unfazed by exit polls projecting a dismal performance by it, Congress is still seeing a chance for it to keep out NDA and form the next government with the help of secular parties.

"We expect NDA to get below 200 (seats) and such a situation will give Congress and like-minded parties a chance to form a coalition (government)," a senior Congress leader said on condition of anonymity.

But the leader refused to hazard a guess as to what the tally would be for Congress and its UPA alliance. The general expectation within the party is that it would get between 120 to 140 seats as against the 206 it bagged in the last elections.

The party is divided over the issue of forming the next government or propping up a third front coalition with a section opposing any such move, the contention being that such a course of action would weaken Congress.

However, another section, which includes Finance Minister P Chidambaram, is arguing that Congress has a "very good chance" of forming the government under its leadership along with some allies.

There is a growing chorus for an "enlarged" UPA-III to stop Narendra Modi from coming to power.

The idea of an "enlarged" UPA-III means taking on board new allies and keeping open the issue of leadership to stop Modi from becoming Prime Minister.

"All options are on the table and no option is off. It all depends on the numbers we get and what BJP gets and the margin between us," said another senior leader.

In India being a largest Democratic Country, every Party has their own right to form next Government if they can but pls don’t call your selves “Secular” else we need to add few more definition for the meaning of “Secular” instead they can call it “Like-minded Communal Parties” or “Like-minded most corrupt Parties”

(LJP no base what JDU had).all exit poll are from ambani to get profit from stock market raise (eventually this two days ambani made billion in that prediction).

Sh NAAZ, lets wait for another 18 hours to know complete picture rather than speculating. I think you are not connected to news & analysis - LJP is not like JD(U), they are fighting only 7 seats in Bihar, but command 12% vote share...They can easily win 4 seats. In UP, the fragmentation & 4 cornered fight ensues that a small 5% swing can bring about 15-20 seats additional & that's what BJP has been focussing on. I've said 52 seats for the saffron in UP. Lets see tomorrow, you need to be live on portal :-)

All exit poll agencies except one have reported a simple Majority to NDA. The standard deviation of the prediction is not much. Remember after the exit poll predictions of the past two elections having gone wrong, there is a likelihood of exit poll agencies scaling down the seat prediction for NDA. Bitten twice these agencies would not want to cut a sorry figure in front of Media and general Public once again. It is difficult to believe that Mr Ambani can buy all these Exit Poll agencies. Mr Ambani would gain notionally by the rise in Stock market. There is no real gain unless he sells his stake at the time of the rise. There is bound to be a correction in the Stock markets if NDA does not match the figures given by the exit polls.

Enlarged UPA-3 will be not good in national interest. NAMO should be the PM even though I don't endorse his role in Gujarat Mascare. At this moment we need Bold leader to lead the nation towards development.

If congress not getting numbers, if they are serious accept the defeat and go back to the respective constituency and build-up from grass-root, if not serious Just go to resorts and enjoy the life with money looted during the last 10 years.
At this moment we need NAMO as PM and Kejriwal as opposition leader to keep tab on NAMO and get experience. With this NAMO will have to perform otherwise he will know that AAP will oust him next elections !!

    1) Karnataka - 14 seats
    2) UP - 52 Seats
    3) Bihar - 25 seats
With these, the total comes to 235 seats. Adding SS, SAD, Allies in TN - you can add another 40 to this total, so a simple majority is there :-)

This is where we need some constitutional changes. Tragedy of democracy is that with these number games the mandate of the public are openly rejected. What is the value of democracy if people's verdict is not respected and valued ? With number games corruption is scheduled start from day one of new administration. How nice it would have been if simple majority (the party with highest number of seats) would enable forming a Govt. There would have been no scope for jumping jacks and corrupt deals.

'Enlarged' and all is O.K., but what will the Congress do if it has Vice President...
    1. Who skips a dinner given for the PM of the country by his own Mother, President of the Congress Party and who has served the party for 10 years with loyalty?
    2. Who makes appearances and disappearances at will and when it suits him?
    3. Tears upon Ordinance and legislation bills at 'Press Conferences' and takes decisions pertaining to the Indian Economy whilst addressing party workers?
    4. Makes speeches like 'Gujarat Mein Aurat Doodh Dethi Hai','Aurat Go Har Jagah Dabaaya Jaatha Hai-Ghar Mein, Bus Mein, Office Mein- Etc, 'Opening Up Systems', 'State Of Minds-DNA's' and other serious stuff.
Enlarging the Congress can think of later but can debate at length as to how to keep its house in order to avoid embarrassments for the time being.

    Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Therefore, nothing works perfectly unless the Govt and its stakeholders and oppositions intentions and actions are good.
Our fate is not completely in our control, so is of the Govt.
There are powers working beyond our control.

This is the reason why Pranab Mukharji was made to sit in the Presidents Chair. This is the reason why congress leaders were seen standing near the EVM's. If Congress crosses the 100 mark then its for sure that the EVMs were rigged which contributed for most of their seats. History may repeat itself, Congress will not win democratically nor will they for a Govt as per peoples mandate. For the sake of being in power they will make deal even with ISI also. Such shameless power hungry party.

As of now BJP INDIA and Perhaps world presumed as BJP winner!!!Even tailors are busy wit stitching Kurtas!!!BJP now tries it's level best to show world united front by placating LAA and Associates. As of now they are busy with finding suitable position but certainly not the post of speaker(Precedent-do not make speaker who has dissent with CM/ PM)

Unless magic number or near that no camp to influence allies/new allies. ENLARGED UPA 111 possible only when NDA restricted to 215 to 240 MPs
