Bangalore, Apr 22: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will submit its final investigation report into the death of police sub-inspector Mallikarjun Bande in Gulbarga in the next 10 days.

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore on Tuesday, State Home Minister K J George said the CID probe into Bande’s death was progressing well and the State Government would receive the final report in the next 10 days.

The CID had already submitted a preliminary report.

Asked about who was responsible for the death of the PSI, George said the IT cell of the CID has been reconstructing the crime scenes that led to the death of Bande in January last.

After studying all issues, the CID would submit the report to the government, he said.

No Decision yet on CBI probe into Kabeer’s Death

The Minister said the CID was also likely to submit a preliminary report into the death of Kabir in firing allegedly by Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) personnel at Tanikodu check-post on the Sringeri–Karkala Road early on Saturday.

On the demand for a CBI probe into the death of Kabir, he said "a decision would be taken based on the preliminary report of the CID."

The minister said about 8500 vacancies, including 316 Police Sub-Inspectors, in the Home Department would be filled in a few months.

A total of 22,000 vacancies existed in the department against the sanctioned posts, George said.

''We will review the decision after three months and take an appropriate decision on continuing it or otherwise depending on the experiment,” he said.
