Lahore, Apr 11 (IANS): Classy, sensual, elegant and much more -- the seventh consecutive edition of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week started Thursday and ethnic clothes with modern silhouettes, especially loose-fitted attires, dominated the runway.
The collection reiterated that being simple yet being classy is the aim and that they have got the expertise in that.
“We belong to the conservative country and we can’t deny that, but still our women are way beautiful than any corner of the world, and we have equally succeeded in fashion sense too without losing our roots,” said one of the audience.
MK Nation by Karma, ChenOne Pareesha by Sahar Atif and Ittehad - the three brands started the fashion extravaganza.
MK Nation by Karma showcased its spring-summer 2014 collection titled “Style Squad” at the high-street fashion segment of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2014.
Inspired by the spring season, leading textile house ChenOne’s collection was titled “The Darling Buds”, which was purely an experiment of floral prints with modern contemporary fabrics and silhouettes made with light breezy printed chiffons.
”Neoterica”, which was Ittehad Textiles collection, was inspired by various cultures and it included menswear from their I-Man range.
Next show witnessed designer Nickie Nina’s spring-summer 2014 collection “Katcha Taanka” and the designer took inspiration from gypsy women and circus performers with nomadic lifestyles. An ideal ensemble for fashionable working woman! The designer duo used fabrics such as organza, satin and crepe de chine, silk khaadi with embellishments in the form of cutwork.
Appreciating the Sunsilk Fashion Week, the duo said that “numerous celebrated designers use this platform because it is a perfect medium to gain access to buyers and consumers. The fashion industry and media come together under one roof stimulating healthy competition”.
Sania Maskatiya, Mohsin Ali for brand Libas were some of the names who grabbed eyeballs with their iconic prints, modern cuts and patterns.
However, the most enthralling show of the day was of Ali Xeeshan’s Theater Studio.
And Bollywood numbers such as “Babby Dolly” from “Ragini MMS 2” to hit songs from Alia Bhatt- starrer “Highway” was like an icing on the cake.
Titled “Trouble”, the clothes were about the charm and magic of the silver screen, particularly the characters from the 1960s and 1970s cinema and it had something for both men and women.
Hand woven raw silk tailored in sheer net and featured lace trimmed blouses, loon pants and wide legged flares, with tapering sleeves and ruffled narrow frames around the waist - it had a lot to offer.
The show was one of the highpoint of the day.
