Margao, May 31: Over 300 people from Talleband and Fakiraband in Margao were rescued from the flood and were shifted to a safer place at Nehru stadium-Fatorda on Tuesday..

Continuous torrential rain created a new record in Margao. It was measured to be 12 inches in just 24 hours up to Tuesday.  Talleband and Fakiraband, which is the area of non-Goan residents, was the most affected.

Reports about trees falling on houses and roads in most places of south Goa have been reported.

Informed sources said the cause of flooding was blockage of drainage system. Government officials are doing their best to tackle this problem.
