Pakistani court sentences three to death

Islamabad, Feb 24 (IANS): An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan Monday sentenced three men to death for kidnapping and murder of a trader in Karachi.

Shujaat Ali, Shehzad Memon and Mohammad Farhan were convicted for the abduction and murder of trader Muhammad Nawaz, whom they had kidnapped in 2010 and demanded Rs.10 million in ransom, reported Dawn online.

The three killed Nawaz despite receiving the ransom from his family.

Businessmen working in Karachi, the country's financial capital, are frequently targeted by extortionists and become victims of kidnappings for ransom.
