Manipuri women assault case: Fifth accused granted bail


New Delhi, Feb 20 (IANS): A court here Thursday granted bail to a man accused of assaulting two Manipuri women, saying four accused facing the same charges have been given bail.

Additional Sessions Judge Rajender Kumar Shastri granted bail to Bharat Singh after a request from defence counsel Lovekesh Chaudhary and Vinod Gupta.

The court also directed three accused to furnish an amount of Rs.30,000 and surety of a like amount while allowing their bail applications.

The court had earlier granted bail to Prem Raj, Bhagwan Dass, Manoj and Yogesh.

Two women from Manipur, in their late 20s, were beaten up by a group of men in Kotla Mubarakpur area of south Delhi Jan 24. The men also passed racist comments against them, police said.
