Indian national arrested in Nepal smuggling silver


Kathmandu, Feb 20 (IANS): An Indian national was Thursday arrested while trying to smuggle silver from Biratnagar, the second largest city in Nepal.

Haidar Ali, 44, from Araria district of Bihar, was arrested while he was trying to smuggle out 1.4 kg of silver covered with plastic and hidden inside his clothes, the Republica online cited police inspector Anil Poudyal as saying.

Police estimated the market value of the contraband silver at Nepali Rs.107,000 (around $1,075).

Police have handed over the silver to the revenue department.
