Gold biscuits worth Rs.35 lakh seized at Bangla border


Kolkata, Feb 17 (IANS): The Border Security Force (BSF) Sunday seized over a kilo of gold biscuits worth Rs.35 lakh near a border outpost (BOP) in West Bengal's Nadia district, an official press statement said here Monday.

The seizure was made by the BSF troopers from the Banpur BOP.

The gold in the form of 10 biscuits weighing 1.16 kg was found in a polythene bag near the Indo-Bangladesh border. Nobody was arrested in this connection.

The BSF Saturday arrested a man and seized a 1 kg gold bar near Haridaspur outpost in North 24-Parganas.

So far, gold worth Rs.3.80 crore has been seized by the BSF from different parts of the state in 2014 and seven smugglers have been apprehended.
