TV channels sponsored by Ambani helpless, cannot report about his corruption: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Feb 11 (Agencies): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said there are a few channels that were directly sponsored by Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, and they could not report against him.

He requested the channels which did not fall under this category to stand up for the public and stop acts of increasing corruption that has resulted in the rise of gas prices.

“We know that there are a few TV channels in the country that are directly sponsored by Mukesh Ambani. We also know that there are few media house owners who themselves own gas wells in the country,” said Kejriwal.

“We understand the helplessness of these media people, but we would request the channels that do not fall under these categories to stand up for the public and support the cause,” he said.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has revealed that a case have been filed by the Delhi Anti-Corruption Bureau against two UPA Ministers — Murli Deora and M.Veerappa Moily — and Reliance Industries Chairperson Mukesh Ambani for allegedly conspiring to inflate gas prices in the Delhi/National Capital Region.

Kejriwal said ACB officials filed the cases on the basis of a complaint lodged against Reliance Industries.

“According to the complaint, Reliance was allotted a few gas wells by the state. When a contract was signed in early 2000 between the state and Reliance, it was a 17 year contract, where they had agreed to provide gas at three dollars per unit, but later they increased it to four dollars per unit after conspiring with a few ministers,” said Kejriwal.

“They extracted less gas on purpose so that they could blackmail the government. Therefore, where they were supposed to produce 80 percent gas, they generated only 18 percent, leading to an artificial shortage in the country, which later led to gas import, and hence, to a price rise,” he said.

“Later, with the help of a few ministers, they passed an order that from April 2014, the price of gas will be doubled to eight dollars per unit. They fixed the rate of gas according to international prices rather than according to the cost of production, as they needed a way to increase the rate,” he added.

    Kamath,

I am using natural gas here in US for last 14 years and pay bills every month.

Here we use natural gas to heat houses, water boilers in addition to cooking and its supplied in pipes like water.

Now if you have internet knowledge and want to comment about it its your choice....

It's your choice to pay double for gas from April first onwards...

    Enjoy with Ambani and Moily...

Langoolacharya further, please note that in the USA the wholesale price is around USD 4 per MMBtu .This is because they have a large resource of Gas and as the international imported price is high they are using their own gas .European Union Natural Gas Import Price:11.59 USD/MMBtu for Jan 2014.Check all these from the Internet .Throughout the Asia Europe the prices of Natural Gas have risen .I dont say Ambanies are right and Kejriwal is wrong .This case is already in the Hon Supreme court as per the Case filed already long back .Why again FIR?

What we have to realize that import price also include the royalty to govt, exploration costs and transportation cost, which is a big factor.

As we know for example Qatar made all the developments using their Gas resources. So most of the profit from Gas should go for nation building, not to some private individual. Reliance should only get the cost of exploration and nominal profit to continue operation.

Mr.Kejriwal is certainly preparing to resign as CM of Delhi and preparing for "Full Time" Lokh Sabha election preparations!!!

Coming back to Mr. Modi's latest claim of getting 272 seats and absolute majority in the coming general elections is a "Joke" and show me who is interested (which other parties) for tie ups with Mr. Modi!!!!and his party BJP!!!.

    Kamath,

I am amused by your defense of Ambani's and Moily together....

Natural Gas rate in US now is USD 1.4 per unit...in
India currently its USD 4 per unit...Moily and Ambanis want to make it USD 8 on April 2014...so Ambani's make an additional profit of 50,000 Crore's per year...

Not only filing FIR,,, I would like to see these guys flogged before filing FIR...

    I am ashamed

Dear Daijians please read the article fully that is self explanatory. In gas exploration at KG basin there are 2types of exploration 1 shallow water 2 deep water govt owned GSPC has already taken 17 of the shallow wells .In shallow wells the cost of exploration is very low and whereas in deep wells the cost of exploration is very high.We are importing gas at high prices and hence as Reliance had got wells from deep water the cost of exploration is very high.More importantly nobody except God can know how much oil or gas is inside.looking at the risk of business involved one should not mudsling on Reliance unnecessarily.I has heard Reliance has already backed out from KG Basin and if that is true we will have to buy gas at higher than what is quoted by Reliance.Reliance has already done lot of 3D survey and spent money on it.Matter is already in Hon Court.I dont understand why aagain FIR in Delhi when the matter is already in the Courts?

That is true...for Ambani's it does not make any difference if MMS or Modi is Prime Minister of India......

If Kejriwal becomes PM(currently there is absolutely no chance of it!!!) Ambani's will run back to Yemen where his father Dirubai was filling petrol in a petrol bunk in the late sixties...may be he could take some CONgress ministers with him...

Its sad that Kejriwal has now directed his ire against highly respected business tycoon Mukesh Ambani with baseless allegations. Those commentators who are now writing all sorts of 'distorted' versions in this DW forum need to understand that Reliance Industries is the biggest private employer in our country & more that 5 Lakh regular employees & more than equal indirect employees...much more supported that Govt employed people. Whatever be the issues, the contribution of Reliance Industries to wealth creation is a folklore...with a 15% contribution to Namma Mangaluru & Udipi (incl Manipal) in terms of employees Kannadigas, Tulu'ites, GSB's Catholics et all in DAKC, & other offices of Reliance South Canara are in high positions......Sad that this commentary is being played out by many without understanding ground realities

Just because he employs people in lakhs still does not give him a right to arm twist the govt. for his benefit. He is a monopolist with powerful lobbies to influence the govt. no matter the political party, and he is no different than those shady Russian billionaires who control most of Russia's natural resources. Our country's natural resources like gas, belongs to us, the 1.2 billion citizens of India, and not solely to Mr. Mukesh Ambani.

It is because of couple of greedy devils, poor people are suffering. They suck the blood of innocent people. Jai ho Kajeriwal for your daring and straightforwardness.
