Kejriwal firm, rules out any action against Somnath Bharti

New Delhi, Jan 23 (PTI): Aam Aadmi Party ruled any action against Somnath Bharti on Thursday even as pressure mounted on chief minister Arvind Kejriwal for removal of the controversial law minister for allegedly leading a group of assaulters in a midnight raid in south Delhi last week.

Notwithstanding growing chorus for Bharti's sacking from Congress, BJP and other quarters, Kejriwal "has not changed" his position on the issue and is unlikely to take any action against the minister before completion of a judicial probe into the case, sources said.

Hardening stand against Bharti, a Congress delegation met lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung on Thursday and asked him to direct the police to take immediate action against the minister as he was "not above law of the land".

"Delhi Police is not probing the case thoroughly. We have demanded the lieutenant governor to direct Delhi Police to proceed as per law in this case. The law minister is not above the law. Whatever legal action is to be taken, should be taken. The LG has assured us of a fair probe," DPCC chief Arvinder Singh Lovely, whose party is giving outside support to AAP government, told reporters after the meeting.

The chief minister also had a meeting with Jung in the morning, but when asked about it he said the Bharti issue was not discussed. "It was a routine meeting," he said.

The law minister was involved in a row with the police last week when they refused to raid a suspected drug and prostitution racket following which he allegedly led his supporters in forcing the women to give urine samples.

Three foreign women have till date recorded their statements before a magistrate, in which they have stated that Bharti, the MLA from Malviya Nagar, had barged into their house along with his supporters on the intervening night of January 15-16, according to court sources.

Delhi Police has already registered a case on January 19 against unknown persons on a plea.

Anyone who has seen the telecast-'Khirki ki Chaupal' presented by Saagarika on CNN-IBN would blindly support the clean chit awarded by the PAC of 'AAP'-thanks to the local mass who found Somnath Bharathi as a bless in disguise as no one till then even bothered to care for the plight of local people. If this is true,it's an endorsement for the Mohalla Sabha which gives power to locals in an open forum.Let this new way of Swaraj be of great help all over India.

Home stay attack is totally different case. It was not a prostitution racket. Delhi case was a absolute prostitution and drug ring, where CONG never took step to abolish. B'coz CONG policy is a vote bank policy, "you do whatever you want, but just give me vote"

If they want to become good leaders then they have to think twice or thrice before speaking anything. If you do not know how to sit on the horse, then it is difficult to have a good horse ride. Instead of commenting on any body, then just do yoga & exercise and recommend others to do the same in all fields. Now onwards AAP should take good advice from experienced, mature persons, else like irresponsible children, they will fall in a well.

Dear Mr. jeetendra j hegde, mumbai,

I quote yours: This kejri thinks he is GOD, whatever he does is correct...The same mindset got away mr. saddam and Gaddfi:

You cannot compare saddam and gaddaffi to A.Kejriwal.

There is a gulf of difference between them. Also, Saddam and gaddafi haven't thought themselves as God nor Kejriwal.

Truth is Truth. I am a congress supporter. But i cannot go out from the truth.

Alcohol, prostitution and people acquiring wealth by any means can be contained but cannot eradicate completely.

Somnath Bharti's apparent prejudiced and racial actions are neither good for India nor are they good for AAP. A government servant cannot and must not commit a crime to solve a another crime. That is extremely dangerous.

Kejriwal must walk the talk and practice what he preaches. He seems to say the right things. He seems to have the right intentions. We hope that not just a few, but all of his actions are in line with his words. We can understand he must be given some time.

AAP will not shut the mouth, it knows how to react, if not decently but Mohallagiri forcefully..

Sorry to say that you are wrong here. One cannot break the law to enforce the law. That is why the administration is never an easy job. Lawmakers and administrators have to find ways to enforce the law but while doing so, they must take extreme care to not break the law themselves.
Mohallagiri justice is what happens in backward and uncivilized Societies.

Administrators and lawmakers will never take steps to stop this, because they are corrupt. Have you ever seen any state or Central Govt. taken steps since the independence of our country?? Police/ Govt.servants are linked each other. They think only their pocket and vote bank!!

Dear Rion, I understand there is desperation to clean up the system, but if lawmakers break the law themselves in the process of enforcing the law then what is the difference between the lawmaker and the criminal ? Both will be criminals, isn't it ?

I repeat that the Administration is not an easy task. AAP needs to find a better way to do that. AAP needs to show more patience and a bit more maturity when trying to solve the problems of corruption and crime. Remember, we do not live in a perfect world and the world cannot be made perfect no matter what but it can be made a lot, lot better.
We accept that AAP needs more time to prove themselves, but first AAP need to give themselves more time and not try to solve all the problems of the Society in an unrealistically short span of time.

This Inaction of Krajiwal shows his double standards like all the political bosses.
One yardstick for others & different for their own.
He had wild allegations against all the leaders of ruling parties & had promised he would take resignation first & then take action if found guilty by the probe.
He had only one option to ask resignation voluntarily or sack his Lawless minister who was prejudiced & racial along with the local people as well.
Or lose popularity all over India as no different from others, but only barks & takes no action on his own.

"Laathon ka bhooth, baathonse nahi maante". This is the right time to start protesting against his minister and continue till he remove him from the cabinet. Delhi police suppose to put both of them behind the bar.

Somnath Bharathi acted as a police commissioner where police not taking action for 2 years...really justifiable. Drug & prostitute racket diverted politically. Politicians, goons pocket dried up. Kick out culprits out of India. Keep it up AAP.

Police did not come to the prostitute site on time. It took more than 1 hour to arrive..till this time the culprits fled, and they brought the different black women who are decent (could be new virgin brought Africa). Now the question is why the police not taken action on druggist, prostitutes? It's logically correct that Mohallagiri was necessarily required in police absence..
